Gilgit-Baltistan Govt Holds Training Workshops For Women

ASTORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Feb, 2018 ) :The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government is taking tangible measures for the socio-economic development of the womenfolk. As part of such efforts, Assistant Director Women Welfare department Sadia told APP, the GB government had initiated a number of projects for welfare of the underprivileged areas.
She said under the directives of Secretary Human Rights and Social Welfare department Asim Tiwana, a 15-day training course had been initiated at Diya mir and Chilas districts to equip womenfolk for better handling of day to day domestic work and other matters of their households.
She said the training sessions featured different techniques to hone culinary skills of women besides enlightening them about preparation and utility of a balanced diet. She said the Prime Minister and Chief Minister GB were taking much interest in development of women in education, health and social sectors.
Among other projects, she said Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) had served as social safety net which was targeting womenfolk by disbursing cash grants to empower them economically.
