Global Handwashing Day Monday observed with an aim to create awareness among people about the importance of use of soap for hand washing.

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Oct, 2018 ) :Global Handwashing Day Monday observed with an aim to create awareness among people about the importance of use of soap for hand washing.

To mark the day, Community Development Department (CDD) organized a seminar on importance of Handwashing.

On the occasion , CDD officer Ehsanullah while expressing his views, said hand washing with soap is the most effective and inexpensive way to prevent diarrhea and acute respiratory infections, which is taking the lives of millions of children in developing countries every year.

He said 80% diseases spread due to non-washing of hands before and after taking meals while 1.7 million children died every year in the world due to Asthma like diseases.

Hands are the principal carriers of disease-causing germs, and hand washing with soap could avert one million of those deaths, he added.
