Governor urges for quality education,knowledge-based research

Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafique Rajwana on Wednesday said that quality education and knowledge-based research were the need of the hour

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Dec, 2017 ) :Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafique Rajwana on Wednesday said that quality education and knowledge-based research were the need of the hour.

He was addressing the 8th convocation of the Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) held at New Campus, Jhang Road, here. Parliamentarians Faqeer Hussain Dogar, Hajji Ilyas Ansari, Fatima Fariha, Vice Chancellor GCU Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor Government College University for Women Dr Noreen Aziz Qureshi, deans, head of departments, faculty and a large number of students along with their parents were also present.

The governor congratulated the successful students and said future of the country was in hands of the educated youth and now it was their responsibility to work hard and serve the nation as well as the country.

He urged upon students to utilize their skills, knowledge and capabilities for serving people in different fields. He said the present era belonged to research, technology and specialization.

" We must focus on improving all those aspects which would bring our universities among top universities of the world", said Governor Punjab.

The governor said Pakistan was rich in resources and capabilities but there was a need to utilize them properly. Rajwana appreciated GCUF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali and his team for rapid development of the varsity and attaining the best ranking in the universities in the country.

The governor also termed the Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) a blessing for students of the region. Earlier, in his welcome address, the VC thanked the governor for participating in the convocation as a chief guest, and highlighted the performance of the University.

He said the university would soon attain the best ranking in 500 top universities of the world while third ranking in universities of the country. He added the university was offering PHD in 27 disciplines, M.Phil in 50 disciplines, Master in 39 subjects while 59 subjects were being taught in Bachelor classes.
