Govt Focuses On Promotion Of Education At Grass Roots Level: CM

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Feb, 2017 ) : Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday said that steps taken under Punjab Schools Reforms Roadmap were leaving a positive impact on education sector.
"Education standard has improved and rate of school enrollment increased due to these measures," he added. He stated this while presiding over a three-hour long meeting held to review in detail the steps taken for the improvement of education under Punjab Schools Reforms Roadmap.
The Chief Minister said attendance of teachers and students in schools had increased through proper monitoring. He said new classrooms were being constructed in schools and there was a target of constructing 36000 additional classrooms by 2018 which would be equipped with all required educational facilities.
Shehbaz Sharif said that facilities of potable water, toilets, electricity, and boundary walls had been provided to 47000 schools at a cost of Rs 40 billion. He said that a plan should be evolved for construction of additional toilets where additional rooms were being constructed.
He said a program had been evolved to provide solar panels to 17000 schools of remote areas. He said 43000 new teachers had been recruited on merit to meet the shortage of teachers. He said newly recruited teachers should be made master trainers by imparting them latest teaching techniques.
He said poor families were benefitting from the programs of Punjab Education Foundation and 2.2 million students from poor families were getting education with vouchers scheme of PEF.
