Govt Urged For Socio-economic Development Of Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT, JAN 05(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Jan, 2017 ) : Former Member National Assembly (MNA) Hamyun Saifullah Khan has urged the government to take tangible measures for socio-economic development of the district.
Talking in meetings with various delegations during his visit to villages near Kurram bridge, Indus Highway the former MNA here on Thursday said the government needed to take concrete measures for boosting the agriculture sector of the district, which was badly hit by flood in past and caused massive destruction to the standing crop, he added.
Dispelling the impression that delay in inauguration of the Kurram Tangi dam would affect work on the mega project, saying work was steadily in progress and renowned contractors including FWO and Deskon had kicked off work on phase-one of the project and were pursuing their plans to complete work as per schedule.
He said the dam would irrigate over three lac hectares of land of the various tribes including Wazir, Khattak, Bhattani, Banochi and Marwat, besides generating job opportunities for people of those areas.
He added, the dam would also generate 84 MW which would help overcome loadshedding and low voltage issues in various parts of the southern district. He said the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should facilitate the livestock farmers of the district, where minimum or no livestock services were available to the farmers, adding the initiative could lead to the development of dairy development.
He said people of the southern districts of the KP especially Lakki Marwat were facing poverty and unemployment despite the fact youth of the area were gifted with excellent talent, therefore, he added, there was a needed to create job opportunities for them enabling them to earn livelihood in respectable manner besides contributing effectively to the country�s socio-economicdevelopment.
He assured that he would continue work for welfare of the people of the area, adding more development packages and projects would be initiated in the district in order to bring it at par with other areas of the province in terms of socio-economic prosperity. APP/slm/rn
