Gujranwala DC transferred over Farah Khan's political influence: Reports

Farah Khan – using her political influence – saved the operation against her father-in-law’s petrol pump by transferring Gujranwala Deputy Commissioner Shoaib Tariq Warraich.

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 19th November, 2018) After the transfer of Pakpattan DPO Rizwan Gondal, another bureaucrat was transferred over the influence of Farah Khan, a close friend of first lady Bushra Maneka.

According to details, Farah Khan – using her political influence – saved the operation against her father-in-law’s petrol pump by transferring Gujranwala Deputy Commissioner Shoaib Tariq Warraich.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Chaudhry Iqbal’s son allegedly owns an illegal petrol pump at GT Road. The petrol pump owners had requested the Punjab government to stop the operation by reaching out to Bushra Maneka via Farah Khan, who happens to be a close friend of the first lady.

Upon this, the Chief Minister office restricted all action against the pump and asked to contact the Highway Department. The operation against the petrol pump was stopped over direct interference of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) top leadership.

Media reports said that the Gujranwala DC wrote a letter to CM Office regarding this petrol pump. Instead of investigating into the matter, the CM Office in reply asked the DC to withdraw his letter and not take any action against the pump.

Gujranwala DC said that the petrol pump is owned by the fourth son of Chaudhry Iqbal who was saved by direct intervention of CM Secretariat.

After the incident, Shoaib Tariq Warraich was removed and Kanwal Batool, a grade-17 officer, was given an additional charge of Gujranwala DC.

Media reports said that three petrol pumps near to Chaudhry Iqbal’s station were also removed in the anti-encroachment operation. However, the petrol pump of Chaudhry Iqbal’s son was not removed due to political influence.
