“Where is our mother? Why didn’t our father come?” the children were reported as asking.
Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st January, 2019) Four people including two women were killed during an action by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Sahiwal on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as 42-year-old Mohammad Khalil, his wife Nabila, 38, their 14-year-old daughter Areeba and Zeeshan Javed. They hailed from Kot Lakhpat.
Their minor son Umair received bullet wounds on his leg whereas his young sister Muneeba was injured by the shattered glass windows of the car.
The two children were being treated at Lahore's General Hospital while four-year-old Hadia was discharged from the hospital and taken home.
When the children reached the home, the first question they asked was about their parents.
“Where is our mother? Why didn’t our father come?” the children were reported as asking.
Everybody present over there fell into tears upon these innocent questions.
Sahiwal encounter
The incident took place at Qadirabad where a team of CTD Lahore, taking action against a suspected car, shot dead two men and two women.
Later, the CTD team took the bodies, children and other valuables from the vehicle. However, the team later on dropped the children at a filling station.
With the alleged shady encounter on a highway in Sahiwal district, a big question mark was posed on the functioning of Punjab Police.
The victims were first declared as kidnappers and then as terrorists from a proscribed group by the police force, which raised eyebrows on the alleged shootout, followed by contradictory witnesses' narratives.
As the incident drew wide ire and condemnation, demands are being made for a thorough probe.
