IGP Inaugurates Homicide Unit To Solve Murder Cases

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News -27th Sep,2016) : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Tariq Masood Yaseen on Wednesday inaugurated Homicide Unit to ensure fair investigation of murder cases.
The new Homicide Unit of Investigation Wing would be comprised of five teams and function under SIU. SP Investigation would head these teams and ensure their training. Five vehicles have been provided to this new unit that would perform to investigate the murder incidents.
The each team would be comprised of an Inspector, one SI, one ASI and three constables, said a press release issued by Islamabad Police here. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad addressed the 'Darbar' of Islamabad Police Investigation Wing at Police Line headquarters.
Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Captain (R) Muhammad Alyas presented the three months performance report of Investigation Wing to the IGP. The report cited that Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Anti car Lifting Cell (ACL)'s Sub-Inspector Liaqat Ali had arrested 17 accused and recovered 14 vehicles, two motorbikes and ammunition from their possession.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Manzoor Elahi had arrested 13 accused and recovered 10 vehicles, two motorbikes and ammunition from them. Likewise, ACL and SIU had nabbed 74 accused while busting a total of 35 criminals gangs and recovered vehicles, motorcycles and valuables of worth millions of rupees from them.
The IGP distributed cash awards and appreciation certificates among the six teams of SIU for demonstrating good performance. Addressing the Darbar, IGP Tariq Masood Yaseen said Investigation Wing was playing an important role successfully to curb crime under the supervision of SP Investigation.
He directed the SP Investigation to ensure training of personnels in Homicide Unit. He said this unit would investigate the murder cases and asked all the officers to ensure investigation of cases on merit to provide justice to victim families of slain persons.
He said the department would fully support the investigation wing to perform transparently. The IGP asked the officers to show dedication toward their profession and use all resources to serve the people particularly the victims.
