Islamabad High Court serves notices in 5% minority quota in jobs implementation case

Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday sought reply from Establishment Division and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in a petition seeking implementation of five percent minority quota in new recruitment.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Dec, 2018 ) :Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday sought reply from Establishment Division and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in a petition seeking implementation of five percent minority quota in new recruitment.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb conducted hearing on the petition filed by a woman belongs to minority Joy Joseph through her counsel Yasir Mehmood Chaudhary Advocate regarding the above matter.

The petitioner pleaded that the FIA had given an advertisement in a newspaper on December 2, for fresh recruitment in the department ranging from BPS-1 to BPS-18. The FIA had given contract to hold the test of all candidates including for the posts of BPS-17 and above to a private firm Universal Testing Service (UTS) rather conducting exam through the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC).

Yasir Chaudhry contended that a five percent quota for minorities had been fixed in all recruitment as per Article 36 of the Constitution.

He said it was necessary for all departments to implement this quota in letter and spirit.

He prayed the court to direct the FIA for minority quota implementation in new recruitment and conduct exam of all candidates through the relevant forum.

After hearing the arguments, the court served notices to the respondents to seek reply and adjourned the case for two weeks.
