Long queues at FIA immigration counter add to passengers’ problems at NIIA

The FIA officials have directed the passengers to make a single queue to reach the counter, resulting in long queues at the airport.

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 16th December, 2018) The problems of passengers at New Islamabad International Airport (NIIA) continue to increase as the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has ordered to make a single queue to reach its immigration counter.

According to media reports, passengers are facing difficulty reaching the FIA immigration counter at the airport.

The FIA officials have directed the passengers to make a single queue to reach the counter, resulting in long queues at the airport.

Before the new order, separate queues were made to get to the counter.

The passengers are irked as they are not being able to reach the counter on time.

Earlier on Saturday, there were reports that the Custom officials had refused to work at the new Islamabad airport.

The building of NIIA is feared to collapse any moment which can cause a loss of human lives.

Media reports said that in view of the dilapidated condition of the new airport, the custom officials had refused to work there.

The custom employees demanded that the building of the airport be changed, only then will they do their duty.

The protesting officials said that they wrote two letters to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) but they did not get any reply.

The CAA officials visited the airport several times but did not take any measures to avoid any untoward incident, they added.

The new airport in the capital has been built with several security covers including sirens built with motion sensors as well as Airport Security Force, Rangers and the police personnel stationed at the grounds.

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had inaugurated New Islamabad International Airport on May 1. The construction of the airport was completed after 13 years.

Despite being declared a world class facility, there are often reports of mismanagement at the airport.
