NA-125: PTI’s Dr Yasmin Rashid Loses, Yet Again

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 26th July, 2018) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Dr Yasmin Rashid has lost election from National Assembly constituency NA-125 Lahore.
According to unofficial results announced on local tv channels, Waheed Alam Khan of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN) stood first by securing 122,327 votes while Dr Yasmin Rashid managed to get 105,857 votes.
This constituency is considered to be PMLN’s stronghold hold. PMLN supremo Nawaz Sharif had won this seat in 2008 and 2013 elections while Kulsoom Nawaz won it in the by-election of 2017.
Polling across the country was held on Wednesday, July 25, for general elections 2018. Polling began at 8am in the morning and concluded at 6pm in the evening.
The nation elected 270 members of the National Assembly and 570 members of all the four provincial assemblies for the next five-year term.
Around 105.95 million eligible voters – 59.22 million male and 46.73 million female – exercised their right to vote to mark another democratic transition from one elected government to another.
About 1,1673 candidates are vying for 270 national and 570 provincial assemblies seats.
According to unofficial results announced so far, Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is in a winning position and is likely to form a majority government.
In what will probably be his victory speech, PTI chairman Imran Khan will address the nation at 2pm today.
