NAVTTC DG For Imparting Technical Skill To Youth

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Nov, 2016 ) : National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Director General Muhammad Zubair Hashmi has said that there is a dire need of imparting technical skills to youth in different trades to produce quality and productive workforce.
He was addressing a prize distribution ceremony held under PM Youth Skills Development Programmme phase-III at Government Staff Training College Peoples Colony here Tuesday. MPA Madiha Rana, DG NAVTTC Punjab Hajji Muhammad Dogar, Senior Vice President FCCI Ahmed Hassan, Principal Engr Syed Mazhar Abbas Naqvi, heads of different vocational training institutes, college staff and large number of students were present on the occasion.
The DG said that government alone could not provide job opportunities to about 120 million youth in public sector in the country so they should equip themselves with technical knowledge and serve in private sector.
He said that there was a wide scope in private sector locally even in abroad also for skilled persons.
He said that more eight million overseas Pakistanis were serving in different countries and sending foreign exchange to the country are all skilled in different professions.
He said that now competitions among youth under PM Youth Skills Development Programme will be held at provincial level which would be announced soon. He said that the winners in today's competitions would be eligible for participating in the competitions.
He said at provincial level competitions, the first prize will be Rs 75,000, second Rs 50,000 and third Rs 25,000. Later, prizes were distributed among 30 toppers in ten trades - Auto Cade, Civil Surveyor, cooking, Computer Graphics, DIT, Electrician, Plumber, Welding, Beautician and Dress Making.
The students of 15 Vocational Training Institutes from all the four districts of the Faisalabad Region participated in the competition. Earlier, DG visited stalls set up by students of different technical institutes in the exhibition and appreciated their good efforts.
