ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2018 ) :Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) would establish Honey Processing Unit in Gilgit to increase production of the natural product and enhancing skills of farmers.

The project titled `Karighar' launched under Corporate Sector Responsibility (CSR) of Serena Hotels which would open new economic opportunities for natives of the areas. In this regard an Memerandum of Understanding was also inked by Dr.

Shahzad Alam, Chairman PCSIR and Aziz Boolani, Chief Executive Officer, Serena Hotels, officials of PCSIR told APP. Under the initiative, PCSIR and Serena Hotels will collaborate in improving the skills of farmers of Gilgit Baltistan (GB) region in honey bee farming by providing professional trainings, processing and quality assurance facilities and shall facilitate them for selling their products, leading to the sustainable and improved livelihood.

Addressing the ceremony, Aziz Boolani lauded the cooperation of PCSIR for joining hands with Serena Hotels for this Nobel cause. He was of the view that it is a start and keeping in view the abundant natural resources of GB region, both the organizations will try to deliver their best for the welfare of the local community.

Dr. Shahzad Alam also thanked the Serena management for providing an opportunity to PCSIR to contribute their due share in the socio-economic uplift of GB community. Both the organizations assured their cooperation to start other projects of similar nature. The signing ceremony was largely attended by the senior management of both the entities.
