PBM Spends Over Rs 731 Mln To Deserving Persons In First 100 Days

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Dec, 2018 ) :The Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) has spent Rs 731 million on providing scholarships to deserving students, medical treatment to the deserving and providing equipment to the handicap in first 100 days of the incumbent government.
According to a PBM spokesman, scholarships amounting to Rs 15,774,456 were given to 542 deserving university students while financial assistance of Rs 1,749,000 was provided to 55 deserving families in last 100 days.
Likewise, 214 destitute children were provided wheel chairs, hearing aids, white canes and artificial limbs, besides financial assistance costing Rs 8,214,798, the spokesman said.
He said the PBM had provided treatment facilities to 7,622 patients suffering from cancer, thalassaemia, hepatitis, kidney, heart and other fatal diseases . A sum of Rs 705,488,356 had been released to different hospitals for treatment. A new system is being prepared to make treatment payment system more easy and prompt.
Furthermore, PBM plans to establish a total of 25 more Pakistan Sweet Homes in different areas of the country whereas the capacity of Youth Villa in Karachi was being enhanced 4,000 children to 5,000 children.
A total of 10,000 more children will be admitted in Child Labour Schools for ending child labour. Six more Thalassaemia centres will be established in other districts of the country. Another office of PBM is being established in Southern Punjab to facilitate people.
Computer lab are being set up in Women Empowerment Centres in collaboration with Universal Service fund, he said adding that the people of far flung areas including Gilgit�Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) would be facilitated by PBM on priority basis.
Likewise, the PBM plans to allocate sufficient budget to provincial level instead of keeping in at central level.
PBM has identified 22 districts to provide help to the poor on priority.
