Pemra bans Ishaq Dar media coverage

TV channels are instructed not to provide coverage to former finance minister as he is proclaimed offender and wanted by courts

LAHORE- (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News- 16th April 2019) Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has banned the media coverage of former finance minister Ishaq Dar on local televisions.

According to media reports, all tv channels are instructed not to provide coverage to PML-N leader as he is proclaimed offender and wanted by the courts in different corruption cases.

Mr Dar is presently in London and not ready to come to Pakistan to appear before courts. He says his health condition is not allowing him to travel back. But, he claims he will return to Pakistan as his health improves.

The former finance minister, however, appears on different TVs on a daily basis and claims his innocence. His appearance on TVs irked the Federal government and it raised the issue before the Pemra which issued direction to TVs not to provide coverage to Dar. The ban was placed for an undefined period.
