PFA Seizes 15,000 Gutka Packets, 750kg Stale Fish

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Dec, 2018 ) :Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Sunday confiscated 15,000 gutka packets and 750 kilograms stale fish during raids conducted in different areas of the city.
PFA Director General Capt (R) Muhammad Usman said that the raids were conducted on a tip-off, of PFA vigilance cell. PFA seized 15,000 gutka packets named as One-to-one, Rattan, GM and different other brands during inspections of warehouses.
The sale of hazardous gutka is strictly banned under the on-going campaign titled "Gutka Free Punjab Mission".
He said that PFA was taking all necessary measures against gutka under zero tolerance policy in Punjab. He added that gutka was injurious to health and causes oral cancer and other diseases.
Similarly, enforcement team of PFA seized 750kg stale fish while carrying out an operation at Fish Market, located at Lohari Gate.
DG said that all confiscated material sent to Lahore Waste Management Company's dumping site. He informed that food safety teams also served warning notices for improvement to 37 food points.
