PPL Donates Rs. 10.05 Mln To Mayo Hospital For Purchasing Anaesthesia Machine

KARACHI, Jan 5 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Jan, 2017 ) : The Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) donated Rs. 10.05 million to Mayo Hospital Lahore for purchasing six anaesthesia machines for its emergency surgical ward.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PPL, Syed Wamiq Bokhari, handed over the donation cheque to Head of Resource Mobilization, MH Moienuddin Chishty, in the presence of officials from both organizations at a simple event organized at PPL's head office, here on Thursday.
`PPL is committed to improving the quality of life for disadvantaged communities through its diverse CSR programme that focuses on provision of healthcare, education and livelihood generation opportunities.
We have been assisting creditable institutions in providing state-of-the-art healthcare facilities and reaching out to deserving population in both urban and rural areas', highlighted Bokhari while speaking on the occasion.
The company spent over Rs. 990 million for CSR initiatives during 2015-2016. Established in 1871, Mayo is one of the largest and oldest hospitals in Pakistan with 2500-bed capacity and separate out-patients, accidents and emergency, surgical and medicine wards, dealing with various diseases/ disorders, including cardiac, neurological, hepatic, gynaecological and psychological issues besides housing a nursing school.
The hospital provides free-of-cost treatment to an average of over 6000 out-patients and emergency cases and nearly 17000 in-patients besides carrying out over 1500 regular and emergency surgical procedures on a daily basis.
With PPL's donation of six anaesthesia machines, the total capacity at MH's emergency surgical ward would reach 14 with the existing 8 machines, enabling the hospital to manage the influx of over 1000 emergency surgical cases on a daily basis.
