Information minister says PPP heads tried to convey a ‘message’ to the institutions who summoned them in corruption cases.
ISLAMABAD – (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News- 20th March, 2019) Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that PPP workers had attacked NAB office at the behest of their leadership.
In a video message issued after the incident, he said the PPP heads tried to convey a ‘message’ to the institutions who summoned them in corruption cases.
Some 500 PPP workers had gathered outside the NAB Rawalpindi office, of which a few dozen had clashed with police, during the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari’s appearance before the NAB. Four policemen and two cameramen got injured due to the clash.
Fawad Ch termed the incident unfortunate and hoped that PPP leadership will apologize for it. He questioned that what was the difference between PPP’s attitude and of those banned outfits against whom the NAP was being enforced?
He appreciated Islamabad police which according to him had handled the situation with patience. Of course, he said, the state had certain obligations that it will have to fulfill.
"We want cordiality but this certainly does not mean that the accountability process will be stopped," said the outspoken minister.
