Prevention, Punishment For Torture, Custodial Death Bill To Be Presented In NA: Dr Shireen Mazari

Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari said Anti Torture and Custodial Death, Rights of Persons Bill will be tabled in the National Assembly soon as it has been ready for over a month.
In a tweetted message she said, "We are preparing new legislation for rights against Torture and Custodial Death and to ensure human rights protection. The government is committed to protecting human rights and specially women rights and will present bill regarding this issue." Human Rights Ministry is working with Law Ministry to establish a statutory body to provide legal services and assistance, especially for women.
According to details, the Senate of Pakistan had passed the proposed Torture, Custodial Death and Custodial Rape (Prevention and Punishment) Act, 2015, in March 2015.
The said Bill was tabled by Senator Farhatullah Babar however the Bill could not be passed by the National Assembly in the stipulated 90-day's time. On Feb 13 Senate passed a resolution for referring the said bill to a joint sitting of the Parliament.
"We are also building up a database about human rights related issues so we can do better and substantial work after having rights database," she further said.
