Price Control Magistrates Impose Rs 1.25 Million Fine During Last Five Months In Bahawalpur

The Price Control Magistrates have imposed Rs 1.25 million fine on shopkeepers selling edible items on high rates during last five months.
This was revealed in a meeting here Wednesday, which was held to review the performance of Price Control Magistrates. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Shozab Saeed while Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Rizwan Qadeer, Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarter Ahsan Ali Jamali, Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance and Planning Dr Saif Ullah, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Shakeel Ahmed , Assistant Commissioners of concerned tehsil headquarters and all price control magistrates of the district attended the meeting.
The DC directed the magistrates to ensure provision of edible items on prescribed rates to consumers. He directed market committee secretaries to have a strict surveillance on the bidding process of fruit and vegetables on daily basis. He said that performance of each price control magistrate would be reviewed individually.
The meeting was informed that almost 899 markets were examined and almost 3957 times these markets were checked. As many as 656 people identified who were selling edible items on high rates and were earning illegal profits, the committee was briefed. The magistrates said that 656 First Information Reports were lodged against shopkeepers.
