Application, filed by PTI’s legal representative Tabish Farooq via post, claims that Imran Khan is not being provided standard facilities allowed to prisoners under jail rules and is also being denied access to medical professionals.
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday submitted an application to the City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, and sought registration of a case against the Punjab Chief Minister, jail authorities and police officers for allegedly preventing PTI founder Imran Khan from meeting his sisters in jail.
The application, filed by PTI’s legal representative Tabish Farooq via post, claimed that Imran Khan is not being provided the standard facilities allowed to prisoners under jail rules and is also being denied access to medical professionals. It further stated that the police and jail officials are violating high court orders, amounting to contempt of court.
The lawyer added that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has publicly referred to Imran Khan as a "source of chaos" in her speeches.
According to the complaint, police officers—including ASPs and other personnel—stop Imran Khan's sisters at checkpoints far from the jail every Tuesday. The sisters, Aleema Khan, Noreen Khanum, and Dr. Uzma, are allegedly harassed, intimidated and even abducted by the police before being dropped off at isolated locations.
The petitioner has urged the authorities to register a criminal case against all responsible individuals and initiate legal proceedings.
