Education Minister clarifies that Danish Schools are not being shut
Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 26th September, 2018) The Punjab government has decided to abolish the laptop scheme of the previous government.
Provincial Education Minister Murad Ras announced that the government is suspending the laptop scheme, under which laptops were distributed among deserving students to help them in their education.
The education minister said that computer labs will be established instead of the laptop scheme.
Murad Ras further said that Danish Schools are not being shut across the province; however, necessary reforms will be carried out in the schools.
He further said that the culture of receiving heavy amounts in the grab of fee of educational institutions will be ended.
The Prime Minister’s laptop scheme (or Prime Minister’s National laptop scheme) was an initiative taken by the PML-N government in the budget speech of the Fiscal year 2013-14.
The scheme was launched to facilitate the youth and to provide laptops to those students who were deserving. The laptop distribution took place every year in public and semi-public educational institutes of Pakistan.
A total number of 300,000 laptops have been distributed across different parts of Punjab and Kashmir. However, with the cancellation of the laptop scheme, students will not be able to avail this opportunity anymore.
