Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad  retains to stay among world's top 500 varsities

Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad in a latest complied ranking remained successful to retain its global position among top 500 universities composed by the United States News and World Report

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Nov, 2018 ) :Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Islamabad in a latest complied ranking remained successful to retain its global position among top 500 universities composed by the United States news and World Report.

According to Global Ranking 2019 the QAU university stood at 76th among hundred best universities in Asia, the only Pakistani university to achieve this laurel for the country.

The QAU grabbed 46.6 global score.while Agha Khan University Karachi stands at number 572 in the same world ranking.

The Quaid-i-Azam University has a variety of faculties and the main areas of research involve: biological sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, and medicine.

The campus covers an approximate area of 6.9 km� below the Margalla Hills; a hill range at the foothills of the Himalayas. The Margallas are an excellent place for bird watching � home to hundreds of species � while the hills are the perfect spot for hill walking, rock climbing and paragliding.

Quaid-i-Azam University has well equipped classrooms, state of the art laboratories and libraries. Other facilities include hostels for male and female students, sports fields, and a mosque, which are all centrally located within the campus.

Notable alumni include Shamshad Akhtar, who heads the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, Dr.

Maliha Lodhi, who previously served as the high commissioner of Pakistan to the UK and Asghar Qadir, a renowned Pakistani mathematician and a prominent cosmologist.

The United States stayed the global leader among research universities, with many US universities dominating the list of top schools.

The Best Global Universities rankings were based on data and metrics provided by Thomson Reuters InCitesTM research analytics solutions -- focus on institutions' research overall.

The methodology weighs factors that measure a university's global and regional reputation; academic research performance using various indicators; and institution-level data on faculty and Ph.D. graduates.

Top ten best universities are Harvard University (US), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (US), Stanford University US, University of California, Berkeley (US), University of Oxford (UK), California Institute of Technology (US), University of Cambridge (UK), Columbia University (US), Princeton University US and University of Washington.
