KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Jul, 2025) Armed robbers made off with Rs. 9.7 million after looting a cash van parked outside a private bank near Godam Chowrangi in Korangi on Thursday.
Speaking to the media, SSP Korangi Tariq Nawaz said the suspects, who arrived in a car, opened fire during the heist, injuring a security guard and another person.
The SSP stated that police have launched an investigation using technical means and are working to trace the culprits. “One of our teams is actively working on the case,” he said.
According to initial findings, the robbers escaped in a stolen car after abandoning their own vehicle at the scene.
Police have recovered some evidence from the abandoned car.
The SSP added that CCTV footage from the bank and surrounding areas is being collected. He also noted that the investigation will examine whether standard operating procedures (SOPs) were properly followed by the bank during the cash transfer.
Preliminary reports suggest that three to four armed men were involved in the robbery. The security guard attempted to resist but was shot along with another individual.
The cash van was reportedly on its way from the bank to the head office when it was targeted.
