Satellite TV Channels Advised To Avoid Discussion On Sub Judice Matters

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Tuesday again issued an advice to all the news and current affairs satellite TV channels prohibiting unnecessary discussion on any sub-judice matter.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jan, 2019 ) :The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Tuesday again issued an advice to all the news and current affairs satellite tv channels prohibiting unnecessary discussion on any sub-judice matter.

PEMRA said discussion on sub-judice matters not only amounted to contempt of court, but its was also in sheer violation of PEMRA.

Earlier, the Supreme Court in its decision on a suo moto case had issued directives to PEMRA to ensure that coverage of sub judice cases was done under its code of conduct.

PEMRA further warned that in case of any violation strict action would be taken against the channel concerned under relevant laws.
