Security Put On High Alert In Province

Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Syed Kaleem Imam on Thursday issued directions to put security on high alert in the province ahead of the general elections.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jul, 2018 ) :Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Syed Kaleem Imam on Thursday issued directions to put security on high alert in the province ahead of the general elections.
In his letter to CCPO Lahore along with RPOs, DPOs and CPOs, the IGP ordered the officers to expedite search, sweep and intelligence-based combing operations in all districts of the province. He also ordered for installing mobile check post under the supervision of circle officers in sensitive areas on daily basis and to increase patrolling hours of Dolphin, PRU and other forces in the areas where election campaigns are at their peak.
In the letter, the IGP ordered for ensuring the implementation of the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission. He ordered for prompt action against those who would violate loudspeaker act or do aerial firing, print, publish or broadcast hate speech etc.
The IG said that search, sweep and combing operations should be conducted on daily basis in the surroundings of sensitive polling stations.
He directed strict action against those who would violate Tenant Registration Act while strict monitoring should be done on inter-district & inter-provincial check posts.
He said that to strengthen security,polling staff and voters of sensitive polling stations should be monitored through CCTV cameras and other advance instruments and that the senior police officers would brief the staff on daily basis regarding the challenges so that they may fulfill their duty in a better way.
The IG said that it was the prime responsibility of Punjab police to maintain peaceful environment in the province and for that purpose he ordered for ensuring implementation on the security plan according to the SOP's for corner meetings, rallies, and processions to maintain peace.
He said that all officers should perform their duty with honesty and sense of patriotism so that the election process could be completed peacefully.
