Seven Killed In 1,020 Road Accidents In Punjab

At least seven people were killed and 1,154 others sustained injuries in 1,020 road accidents in Punjab during the past 24 hours.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Oct, 2018 ) :At least seven people were killed and 1,154 others sustained injuries in 1,020 road accidents in Punjab during the past 24 hours.
According to Rescue 1122, out of the injured 672 were seriously injured requiring shifting to different hospitals, whereas 475 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site by rescue medical teams.
Motorcyclists were involved in majority (64%) of the accidents, whereas 503 drivers, 29 juvenile drivers, 143 pedestrians and 508 passengers were among the victims of these road crashes.
The statistics showed that 243 accidents were reported in Lahore which affected 248 persons placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 84 in Faisalabad with 103 victims and Multan at third with 77 accidents and 81 victims.
The data revealed that 1,154 victims were affected by road crashes including 941 males and 213 females, while age group of the victims show that 157 were under 18 year of age, 603 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 394 victims were reported above 40 years of age.
As many as, 858 motorcycles, 134 rickshaws, 87 cars, 44 vans, 17 buses, 38 trucks and 105 other vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the accidents.
