Sewage Water Samples Tested Positive For Polio Virus In Mardan: Senior Minister

MRDAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2019 ) :Senior Provincial Minister for Tourism sports and Culture, Atif Khan Monday said the water sample collected from gutters in Mardan have been tested positive for polio virus therefore the upcoming anti-polio campaign starting from April 22 is of paramount importance for the district The senior formally inaugurated the three-day anti-polio drive by administering polio drops to the children up to the age of five years at his Hujra Mardan House on Monday.

The officials of WHO, UNICEF and other concerned departments were present on the occasion.

In a brief chat with media men, he said the samples taken from gutter in Mardan district have indicated the presence of polio virus.

He informed that there was no polio case reported in Mardan till date, however, they have to be alert as results of water samples collected were positive for polio virus.

He underscored the need for making the vaccination campaign effective against ten diseases. People must bring in the notice of the health authorities if vaccination against the diseases was not carried out in their areas.
