The Chairman Mahboob Medical Institute and Habib Physiotherapy Complex Saturday said that things are moving in the right direction in social sector department and lauded Prime Minister Imran Khan for sensing the much needed home for shelter less people in Pakistan.
He said this while addressing in a seminar organized at Khushal Bagh Public school for inclusive education at Peshawar. Dr. Mehboob-ur-Rehman expressed the hope that hopefully for social sector, things are moving in a right direction and provision of home for the shelter-less people is a steps to establishment of a welfare state.
Soon after the inauguration of shelter home by the Prime Minister Imran Khan at Peshawar for the shelter less people and earlier in an interview by the Prime Minister that he has personally seen the shelter less people lying on footpath.
So such initiatives taken by the government for the needy and poor people were a right step in the right direction besides announcing increase of four percent quota for the disabled from two percent.
He expressed the hope that four percent quota for the disable would be implemented with zeal and spirit.
He disclosed that the disability act for the national and provincial assembly to be tabled soon which would further facilitate the persons with disabilities earlier neglected in previous government.
In fact, the issues of disability needs a comprehensive planning where all stakeholders like health, social welfare, education, bait-ul-mal, P&D, finance and civil society should fix the responsibilities at their end as after getting paralyses due to any reason they further need vocational training, financial assistance for empowerment and social inclusion, he further added.
The same is the case with special children where they need rehabilitation, assistive devices and education, he said, adding, "So until and unless we will not have a proper planning, we cannot address their issues." The disability could not be prevented and eventually the beggary would be promoted, he said. He stressed stressed for inclusive education for special children. It is suggested that the government which is focusing on shelter less and disability issues should come for a concrete solution to really make it a welfare state as committed, Dr. Mehboob-ur-Rehman said.
In a state which claims as a welfare state, the top priority should be empowerment of disabled and vulnerable groups and the social welfare department should be strengthened for achieving the set goal, he concluded.
