Urban Transport Facilities To Be Provided In Big Cities: Minister

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Nov, 2018 ) ::Punjab Minister for Transport Jehanzeb Khichi has said that under the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and CM Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar a plan was being devised for providing urban transport facilities in big cities of the province.
He was presiding over a meeting here on Tuesday at Commissioner's Office to review the urban transport plan for Faisalabad.
Punjab Minister for Social Welfare Ajmal Cheema, parliamentarians- Sh. Khurram Shehzad, Firdous Rai, Ch. Ali Akhtar, Mian Waris Aziz, Latif Nazar, Shakil Shahid, Khayal Kastro, Commissioner Asif Iqbal, Deputy Commissioner Sardar Saifullah Dogar and CPO Ashfaq Ahmad Khan were also present in the meeting.
General Manager Operation Punjab Mass Transit Authority Syed Muhammad Uzair briefed the minister and presented details of the study conducted for increasing requirement of urban transport for Faisalabad City.
Punjab Minister for Transport informed that model project of urban transport would be devised for Faisalabad and the scope of this model project would be expended up to the other cities of the Punjab.
He said that the PTI government was utilizing the available resources judiciously and the people would be provided comfortable and respectable urban transport facilities in least possible funds.
He directed the Divisional Commissioner to formulate comprehensive line of action for specifying the urban routs as per the public needs for the provision of most economical transport facilities.
He suggested that the model project of transport should be planned through public private partnership and transporters be mobilized to run the Speedo busses on different routes.
Later, the Transport Minister visited General Bus Stand andinteracted with representatives of transporters and workers.
