WASA Official Suspended On Showing Negligence

Water and Sanitation (WASA) official was suspended by the civic agency apparently on charges of negligence in discharging duties, informed a spokesman on Wednesday
On the complaint of the resident of Adiala Road, that scores of consumers have been stealing water through illegal/unregistered water connections at Sadiq Town on Adiala Road while conducting heavy loss to national kitty.
Director Revenue WASA Shamas Ur Rehman constituted a special team under the surveillance of Inspector Naeem Anwar Bhatti tasking it to pay a surprise visit to the area to disconnect the illegal/unregistered water connections. However, the special team of WASA visited the area but has not detected even a single water connection. Instead, he said, Inspector Naeem Anwar Bhatti disclosed to the identity of the complaint with area residents allegedly involved in water theft.
Taking action, Managing Director (MD) Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Muhammad Tanveer placed Inspector Revenue Naeem Anwar Bhatti under suspension and ordered him to report with Director Revenue.
A departmental inquiry has also been initiated against the accused Inspector for further action, he said.
On the other hand, Water shortage perturbed the residents of Adiala road and its adjoining areas for last many days.
No substitute arrangements were made by the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to ensure regular supply, the residents namely Rizwan Chatta, Zahoor, Adalat, Rab Nawaz, Ghulam Abbas,Riaz, Fayyaz, Said Rasool, Ali Nawaz, Shakeel Ahmed, Sheikh Tasleem,Muhammad Javed, Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Akram, Wasiq Razzak,Sajjad Sadiq showed their grievances and threatened to lodge a protest against WASA for not providing the water. A complainant of the area Adiala road said "we have to fetch water from far flung areas to meet the daily needs. "We can't afford a water tanker that is costly and unaffordable and we have to pay Rs.1000 to get water from this source," he added. On the other hand, the residents of Dhoke Elahi Bukush UC 42 facing acute water shortage for the last many days. The residents of the area demanded to ensure regular supply of water during the holy month of Ramzan.
