Aqeel Gets First Victory In Gujrat Gymkhana Tennis

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Feb, 2017 ) : Pakistan's top notch tennis player Aqeel Khan opened his account in the Gujrat Gymkhana open national ranking tennis tournament with a convincing straight sets victory against Shahzad of Pakistan Air Force at Gujrat Gymkhana Club, on Tuesday.
National champion Aqeel outstroked Shahzad with skilful game and superior technique to breeze into the quarter finals, said the information made available here. The other seeded players including Heera Ashiq, Shahzad Khan, Muzamil Murtaza and Ahmed Chaudhry also advanced to the quarter final stage after winning their matches with ease and comfort.
Following are the results of the men's singles 2nd round. Aqeel Khan beat Shahzad PAF 6-1, 6-1.
Mudassir Murtaza beat Usman Rafiq 6-1, 7-6 Shazad Khan beat Ejaz Ahmed Khan 6-2, 6-2 Muzamil Murtaza beat Haris Irfanul Haq 6-1, 7-6 (5), Heera Ashiq beat Israr Gul 6-1, 6-1, Ahmed Chaudhry beat Kashanul Haq 6-0, 6-1.
The Juniors 18 Singles also reached to quarter final stage in which top seed Yousaf Khan beat Zeeshan Bachani 6-0, 6-2. Hafiz Arbab beat Nadir Bachani 6-0, 6-1. Sami Zaib beat Zalan Khan 6-2, 6-0.
Saqib Umer w/o Amir Khan. Results of 14 & under 1st Round Kashan Umer beat Hamza Jawad 6-2, 7-5. Abdul Samad Areejo beat Muhammad Umer 6-2, 6-0. The tournament offers a total cash prize of half a million rupees. Ladies singles will be played from Wednesday.
