PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Jan, 2018 ) :A grand FATA Sports Gala for Minorities living in FATA will jointly be organized by Directorate of Sports and FATA Olympic Association in April.
This was stated by President FATA Olympic Association Shahid Khan Shinwari while talking to APP here on Tuesday. President All FATA Social Welfare Minorities Organization Wilson Wazir, Secretary Pakistan Archery Federation Muhammad Wisal Khan, Secretary General FATA Archery Association Manzoor Khan were also present.
Shahid Khan Shinwari said that they held a very important meeting with the head of the FATA Minorities with the aim to involve the youth of minorities of FATA in healthy sports activities. He said talks were very successful with Director General Sports and Youth Affairs FATA and soon a comprehensive plan would be chalked out to involve maximum number of minorities living in FATA.
He said different sports events comprising Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Football, Archery, Athletics, Cycling, Woodball and cricket would be organized in Khyber Agency, Mohmand Agency, Bajaur Agency and Peshawar Sports Complex.
He said non-Muslim communities - Christian, Hindu and Sikh have been living in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) like other parts of the country. They follow same traditions and lifestyle as common tribal people do.
He said efforts would be taken to involve the youth of minorities in healthy sports activities.
Shahid Khan Shinwari said that he had talked with President Pakistan Olympic Association Lt. Gen (Retd) Arif Hassan and Secretary General POA Khalid Mehmood who are more eager to support FATA Olympic Association for holding such a sports gala wherein sports gears, sports uniform would also be given to minorities youth of tribal areas.
He said, Christians, Hindus and Sikhs are living in Khyber Agency, Kurram Agency and Orakzai Agency so minority's youth would also be involved from across FATA. He said it is very encouraging that the FATA youth are part of the FATA Contingent that participated in the recently concluded Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games and 3rd Governor KP FATA Sports Festival.
War against terrorism and militancy in FATA have affected most the minorities settled in Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram and North Waziristan agencies as minorities are patriotic as we are and they were living there for centuries, he added.
President All FATA Social Welfare Minorities Organization Wilson Wazir on this occasion thanked Shahid Khan Shinwari for taking a decision to hold specifically sporting event for the minority youth of tribal area.
He has extended all out support to Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs and FATA Olympic Association on behalf of the minority youth. He said the minority male and female players are eager to be part of this sports gala.
