NEW YORK, June 1 (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 01st Jun, 2017 ) : Xavier Kouassi headed home the tying goal in the 86th minute Wednesday as the New England Revolution salvaged a 2-2 Major League Soccer draw against New York City FC at Yankee Stadium.
Former Barcelona striker David Villa played a role in both New York goals, but the hosts twice let a lead slip away. Kouassi scored his first goal of the season and his first since joining the Revolution, heading in Kelyn Rowe's cross from close range in the 86th minute.
It was a disappointing finish for New York to start a three-game home stand -- against a New England team that has struggled on the road. "You can't be conceding the ball late," New York coach Patrick Vieira said.
"We can talk about concentration. We can talk about focus. If you scored the chances that you create, the game would be different. Jack Harrison tapped in a pass from Villa with his left foot in the 16th minute to put New York City ahead.
Kei Kamara got past Villa to head in the equalizer in the 24th.
Miguel Camargo put the hosts up again in the 64th minute -- three minutes after coming into the contest. Camargo's go-ahead goal in the 64th minute goal came after he subbed in three minutes earlier.
Villa sent a short pass to Maxi Moralez, who penetrated down the left side. Moralez lofted the ball across the goal that Camargo headed in. New England are back in action on Saturday at home to Toronto FC.
New York also play Saturday, hosting the Philadelphia Union. Elsewhere on Wednesday, the Houston Dynamo seized the lead in the Western Conference with a 5-1 pounding of Real Salt Lake. Houston's scorers included Erick Torres, who notched his 10th of the season -- second in MLS behind the 11 of Chicago's Nemanja Nikolic.
An own goal from Salt Lake's Justin Schmidt gave Houston the lead in the third minute. Alex, Mauro Manotas and Leonardo also scored for the Dynamo while Joao Plata scored for Real Salt Lake on a free kick.
