WASHINGTON, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Mar, 2017 ) : Seattle Seahawks reserve quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested Monday in Dallas after a car in which he was riding crashed into a nightclub and injured eight people.
Boykin, the backup to Seahawks star Russell Wilson, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and marijuana possession and being held in the Dallas County Jail. Police said a car being driven at about 2 a.m.
by a woman, Shabrika Bailey, "accelerated in reverse at a high rate of speed" and hit seven sidewalk pedestrians before crashing into the bar, where bottles of alcohol and a large cooler fell upon the bartender and injured him.
Pedestrians were taken to local hospitals with injuries that included a broken ankle and a dislocated arm, but none had life-threatening injuries.
Bailey, 25, faces two felony charges of intoxicated assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury.
Boykin, 23, is on probation from a 2015 incident that took place when he was the starting quarterback at Texas Christian University. He was arrested in San Antonio after allegedly punching a police officer who was trying to break up a New Year's Eve bar fight.
His team was to play its final game of the season there two days later. The team suspended Boykin for the game and he pleaded no contest to a charge of resisting arrest last June, receiving one year of deferred probation.
While not taken in the NFL Draft, Boykin signed a three-year free agent deal with the Seahawks and played in five games as a backup last season, completing 13 of 18 passes for 145 yards with one touchdown and an interception.
