At Least 16 People Killed, 48 Injured By Warehouse Explosion In Eastern Myanmar - Reports

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th March, 2019) At least 16 people were killed and 48 more were injured by a warehouse explosion in Myanmar's eastern state of Shan, media reported on Sunday.

According to the Xinhua news agency, the incident occurred on Saturday in the city of Mongmao, located in the Wa Self-Administered Division.

At the hit warehouse construction materials, including gas cylinders and explosives were stored.

"We have some difficulties in providing medical services to such many injured people here. So, we sent them to the hospital in neighboring China for medical treatment," a representative of the United Wa State Army (UWSA) told Xinhua.

UWSA is a military wing of the United Wa State Party, which is de facto controlling the unrecognized Wa State in eastern Myanmar.
