MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th January, 2019) Finnish lawmakers are willing to maintain dialogue and open communication with their Russian colleagues, Finnish parliament speaker Paula Risikko said on Monday at a meeting with Russian upper house speaker Valentina Matviyenko.

"This meeting is a great opportunity for dialogue and closer cooperation ...

The Finnish parliament wants to maintain a good dialogue and open communication with the Russian parliament," Risikko said, describing Russia-Finland cooperation as "good and fruitful."

The lawmaker also stressed the importance of the possibility to openly discuss those issues on which Moscow and Helsinki had differing opinions.

During her two-day visit to Russia, Risikko is also expected to meet with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova and lower house speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
