German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas called on Wednesday the recent decision of the UK parliament to rule out the no-deal Brexit option a "sign of reason"
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th March, 2019) German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas called on Wednesday the recent decision of the UK parliament to rule out the no-deal Brexit option a "sign of reason."
On Wednesday, the House of Commons approved by 321 votes to 278 the amended no-deal Brexit motion, which calls on the British government to rule out "no deal" option in any scenario. This vote followed by the parliament's rejection of UK Prime Minister Theresa May's updated Brexit plan for the second time on Tuesday.
"A sign of reason has just came from London.
The House of Commons showed that the majority does not want a no-deal. The no-deal is in no one interests, we have repeatedly made this clear," Maas wrote on Twitter.
May said after the Wednesday vote that this result did not mean that the United Kingdom would not leave without a deal on March 29. She stressed that the parliament had yet to vote on extending the deadline beyond March 29 on Thursday, and in case the motion passes, the matter would be up to Brussels, which demands a solid justification for an extension.
