MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 29th October, 2018) Indonesian Lion Air carrier said on Monday it had suspended talks with the Boeing manufacturer on supply of the 737 MAX 8 aircraft after a plane of the same modification crashed off the Indonesian coast earlier in the day.
"The 737 Max 8 operated by LionAirID had technical issues (plane was only two months old) on a previous flight.
We are suspending talks with Boeing on a order for 10 of 737 planes from the Max program. Until the Air Crash Investigators issue a final report," the carrier said in a statement.
The Boeing 737 bound for the city of Pangkal Pinang, located on the Indonesian island of Bangka, lost contact with the traffic control at 6:33 a.m. local time (23:33 GMT) 13 minutes after departure from Jakarta's airport. The plane debris were found in the sea off Java coast. No one of 189 people on board survived.
