International Military Exercise Northern Wind Starts in Northeastern Sweden

Large-scale military exercise Northern Wind, in which 10,000 personnel, including around 7,000 foreign soldiers, will take part, starts in northeastern Sweden on Monday

STOCKHOLM (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th March, 2019) Large-scale military exercise Northern Wind, in which 10,000 personnel, including around 7,000 foreign soldiers, will take part, starts in northeastern Sweden on Monday.

The exercise, which will last until March 27, will bring together military staff from Sweden, the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway and Finland.

Most of the participants will come from Sweden's neighbor states, with Norway sending around 4,500 solders and Finland sending 1,500 personnel.

The Northern Wind aims to enhance the participants' winter warfare capabilities and to boost their ability to conduct joint combat operations. It will be held in the Norrbotten County, near the cities of Kiruna and Boden.
