TEL AVIV (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th November, 2018) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on Monday they had intercepted three out of 17 rockets fired from the Gaza Strip.
Earlier in the day, the IDF said that multiple sirens had sounded in the Eshkol Regional Council.
"5:15 AM RECAP: 17 rockets were launched from #Gaza at #Israel. The Iron Dome intercepted 3 of them," the IDF spokesperson wrote on the Twitter page.
Because of the rocket fire the Israeli authorities decided to close the railway line from the city of Ashkelon to the city of Sderot.
The authorities have also closed schools in the Israeli communities surrounding the Gaza Strip.
On Sunday, Israel carried out a military operation in the southern Gaza Strip's city of Khan Yunis having killed six Palestinians. The shootout with Palestinians has also left one Israeli officer dead and one more moderately injured.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to cut short his visit to Paris over the escalation of tensions.
