Former First Lady Michelle Obama's memoir "Becoming" will be printed in 2.6 million copies after it reached the largest single-day sales on the first day after being released of any other book published this year, Penguin Random House said in a release on Monday.
"Based on extraordinary account demand across all channels from mass merchandisers to independent bookstores, the publisher has already gone back to press for an additional 800,000 copies, which will bring the total number of copies in print in the US and Canada to 2.6 million copies," the release said.
The memoir, with a first printing of 1.8 million copies of the hardcover edition, sold more than 725,000 units in all formats and editions in the United States and Canada on the first day last Tuesday.
"Becoming" is being published in 31 languages and is distributed throughout the world.
Penguin Random House paid an excess of more than $60 million for Michelle Obama's memoir.
In the book, Obama describes her childhood and early adult life as well as shares insight about her life during the time she was First Lady of the United States from 2009-2017.
