There are currently no specific options for a peace treaty between Russia and Japan at all, no one has officially offered anything, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st January, 2019) There are currently no specific options for a peace treaty between Russia and Japan at all, no one has officially offered anything, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.
"I must say that there are no specific options at all now. Any statements to this effect are not statements regarding specifics, but statements relating to either inquiry positions, wishes, or speculations, not more," Peskov told reporters.
"So far, nobody has offered anything officially, therefore eventual speculations are hardly appropriate, they do not contribute to the success of the talks, so let's wait for tomorrow's negotiations.
Again, here we are urging everyone to be realistic... No one is going to give up their national interests," he said.
Peskov said Russia intended to do everything possible to minimize the time required to sign a peace treaty with Japan, adding that the work on the peace treaty was currently at the expert stage and required the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
He said it was impossible to find a mutually acceptable solution immediately.
