Over 50% Of Georgians To Back Opposition Candidate Vashadze In Presidential Runoff - Poll

Fifty-six percent of Georgians have said they would vote for opposition candidate Grigol Vashadze in the presidential runoff if the election took place on Wednesday, a fresh poll showed.
According to the survey, conducted by the Edison Research company for the Rustavi 2 Broadcasting Company, 44 percent backed independent candidate Salome Zourabichvili, who is supported by the ruling Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party.
The poll was conducted among about 2,000 respondents.
As many as 25 candidates were in the running for the presidency in Georgia on October 28. After all votes were counted, the Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that Zourabichvili received 38.6 percent of the vote, while Vashadze secured 37.7 percent. The runoff election between these two front-runners will be held no later than December 2.
