Over 670 People Return to Syria From Abroad Over Past 24 Hours - Refugee Center

Over 670 Syrian refugees, including 345 children, have returned to their home country from Jordan and Lebanon over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reception, Allocation and Accommodation of Refugees said on Monday.

"Over the past 24 hours, a total of 676 refugees returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from the territory of foreign states: 94 people left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus checkpoint (28 women and 48 children) and 63 people passed through the Talkalakh checkpoint (19 women and 32 children); 519 people (156 women and 265 children) returned from Jordan via the Nassib checkpoint," the center said in its daily bulletin.

According to the bulletin, 259 internally displaced Syrians returned to their homes over the period.

A total of 29 residents of Salhiyah settlement in the Deir ez-Zor province received medical assistance over the past 24 hours, the center added.

Syrian engineering units destroyed 37 explosive devices over the period, the center added.

As most of the heavy fighting in Syria is now over and the war is nearing its end, the Syrian government has started welcoming back Syrians who were forced to flee the armed conflict and seek asylum in other countries. The Russian side has been assisting Syria throughout the war, providing military and humanitarian aid and brokering ceasefire agreements.
