Serial production of digital drugs needed to fight cancer will be launched in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk, Russia's Foundation for Advanced Research (FPI) said in a press release on Thursday.
Digital drugs are medicines with biological sensors that can collect information about the drug's reaction and then transmit it to an external sensor, enabling doctors and patients to constantly monitor an individual's condition.
"With the support of the Krasnoyarsk Territory's government and the FPI, the serial production of digital drugs and robotic systems of theranostics [treatment and diagnostics] of cancer is expected to be launched," the press release said.
According to the press release, production will be launched by the Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian academy of Sciences, the Krasnoyarsk State Medical University and the Radiosvyaz Scientific Production Enterprise.
The FPI was established in 2012 to promote scientific research and development in the interest of Russia's defense and security. The foundation's research is focused on three main fields: chemical-biological and medical research, physics and technology studies, and information research.
