MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 23rd October, 2018) Russia and the United States could jointly solve the problems of nuclear deterrence and settle large long-standing conflicts, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Tuesday at talks with US National Security Adviser John Bolton.
"There are many problems in the world that we could solve by joint efforts. It relates both to the issues of nuclear deterrence and, naturally, settlement of large old conflicts," Shoigu said.
The minister added that the two parties maintained military contacts across a number of pressing issues.
"First of all, in Syria, where we cooperate effectively on an ongoing basis, maintain constant contact with our US partners," Shoigu said.
Such contacts are probably the only example of effective cooperation, which allows the two parties to avoid serious incidents in the air, the minister added.
"As for all other issues, we need a more active dialogue," Shoigu added.
