Russian Armed Forces To Receive 1st Arctic Pantsir-SA Missile System In 2019 - Ministry

The Russian Armed Forces will receive the first Pantsir-SA surface-to-air missile system designed to operate in the Arctic region in 2019 and the tests will start in the coming days, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexey Krivoruchko said on Friday

TULA (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th January, 2019) The Russian Armed Forces will receive the first Pantsir-SA surface-to-air missile system designed to operate in the Arctic region in 2019 and the tests will start in the coming days, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexey Krivoruchko said on Friday.

On Friday, Krivoruchko visited a subsidiary of KBP Instrument Design Bureau, Shcheglovsky Val and listened to reports of managers and designers on the advanced developments of the enterprise.

"The machine is in production facility and the tests will start in the coming days.

This year, we will receive the first Pantsir air defense missile-gun system for the Arctic," the deputy defense minister said.

Krivoruchko also inspected the course of serial production of Pantsir-S systems as well as equipment for infantry combat vehicles and airborne infantry fighting vehicles.

Pantsir-S (NATO reporting name SA-22 Greyhound) is a short-to-medium range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery weapon system, which first entered service in 2012.
