The North Caucasus District military court sentenced on Thursday a Russian Black Sea Fleet major and his girlfriend to ten and nine years in prison, respectively, for spying for Ukraine, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said in a statement

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 28th February, 2019) The North Caucasus District military court sentenced on Thursday a Russian Black Sea Fleet major and his girlfriend to ten and nine years in prison, respectively, for spying for Ukraine, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said in a statement.

"The court ruled to sentence Dolgopolov D.A. to ten years in a maximum security colony, Sukhonosova A.S. - to nine years in a general regime colony," the statement said.

Both of them pleaded guilty and repented.

According to the FSB, Sukhonosova was recruited by Col. Igor Klimenok of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, and she involved Dolgopolov to cooperation with Ukraine. Jointly they "collected and handed state secret information on the activities of Black Sea Fleet units to the Ukrainian security service."

The FSB announced the detention of the two spies in September 2017. The details were not specified.
