Russian, Cambodian Army Chiefs Laud Defense Industry Cooperation - Defense Ministry

Russian Chief of General Staff Gen. Valery Gerasimov and Cambodian Land Forces Commander Hun Manet commended the defense industry cooperation between the two states, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 27th March, 2019) Russian Chief of General Staff Gen. Valery Gerasimov and Cambodian Land Forces Commander Hun Manet commended the defense industry cooperation between the two states, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

"The parties welcomed the fast-developing defense industry cooperation," the ministry said, stressing that the meeting of this level had taken place for the first time in recent years.

During the meeting, Gerasimov praised Cambodia's constructive contribution to the work of regional cooperation mechanisms that is held under the auspices of ASEAN. He also expressed interest in joint work on building an equal and indivisible security in the Asia-Pacific region, the ministry emphasized.

On March 25, Hun Manet also met with his Russian counterpart, Russian Land Forces Commander-in-Chief Gen. Oleg Salyukov. They held discussions on bilateral military cooperation between two states in the field of land forces.

During his stay in Russia, Hun Manet, alongside the delegation of Cambodian Land forces, will get acquainted with the training base and combat training system of the Guards Tank unit of the Western Military District. Besides, they will visit General Staff academy of the Russian Federation's Armed Forces, as well as the Military University of the Ministry of Defense.
